We Americans love oil. It keeps us warm, powers our economy, coats everything we eat, and goes into the production of nearly every consumer good. We even bathe in petroleum based products. But there’s a catch: we’re running out. Oh, and burning it creates atmospheric pollution that destroys the climate and makes the Earth inhabitable. For the most part, people can block that second one from mind but running out of it Texas tea is harder to ignore – especially with these gas prices going through the roof, amirite?? Watch as VBS cruises the streets of Beverley Hills to discover the latest insane LA fad: urban oil welling. It’s a cross between hide and seek and Monopoly, except real life and the players are mentally ill.

cfucile: I don't know why this surprises anyone. I really enjoy these Uneven Terrain videos but this one was not terribly impressed with. Urban drilling is nothing new and nobody knows about it because we don't educate ourselves about our own communities. The narrator and interviewer made urban drilling sound like some big conspiracy and that the big bad oil companies are trying to pull one over on you. The peoples homes who they drill from or have pipe running underneath their yards get paid good money. No it doesn't bring down your property value it raises it, duh. I work for an oil and gas company in Texas called Carrizo Oil and Gas. One of our number 1 rigs is on a campus in plain sight and the residents in that neighborhood also have pipes running underneath their lawns. The rig is not hidden and not a mystery, the residents get paid. The majority of the students probably have no idea that it is there because they don't open their eyes and look around (like in California) cause they really don't give a damn. This was still an interesting video because of the history of it and to see the extent of the urban drilling but they really should have taken a different angle on it.

Biff: Someone send this video to Sarah Palin. She can fingerblast herself while it plays while simultaneously shitting on the Levi Johnson Playgirl cover.
