Filmmaker Lance Bangs portrays Family Bookstore and their extended LA realm of friends and fellow travelers – including curator and cartoonist Sammy Harkham, David Jacob Kramer, bands like No Age and Lavender Diamond, and artist Mike Mills. Dreamed up while they were still in high school, the store has grown into a hive for readings, art fairs, in-store music shows, and any other ad hoc use its proprietors think of.
