anonymous: Hey Desmond, I actually ran into Ian a few months ago in NY and he said he was taping new episodes for the show, including Kathleen Hanna and Ted Leo. I do believe the Calvin Johnson intv is new as well.

I just discovered this show and I can’t find any info about it. Does anyone know if it has stoped? It would be a shame really, because all the other interviews by Ian are also fantastic.

Good interview. MES in plain conversation is more rewarding that MES being "interviewed" -- he’s a bit more natural.
anonymous: Ian seemed a little wary, and at times, fearful of MES in this interview. I don’t necessarily blame him!
One benefit of this ’softly-softly’ technique is we actually get to hear some rational things from the lips of Smith, rather than the usual belligerent journo baiting.
A success then, if only a moderately interesting one... I would liked to have heard a little more about smith’s music and aesthetic, particularly literary.

totally valid question.how many chicks do you know who get hung up on how fast they can play triplets.i’ve never heard a woman do a dive bomb on a whammy bar, as, generally, they’ve better aesthetics and approach the instrument as a tool for expression rather than a cro magnon club substitute.Smithy just gets the hump as the truth is he has his bird, who is a fox, in the band to make him look good and to wash his undies on tour.
