ColinUp: Seemed like kind of a half-assed production to be honest. Fun though. "Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Moscow. Thank you, goodbye and good luck." Damn son.

NEOES: Not be be "Mr. Mom" or anything...but Russia is a country struggling with alcoholism...apparently, 50% of the deaths for people between ages 18-50 are from ALCOHOL. That's fucking crazy. But from that museum thing, you can see why...vodka runs through the veins of Russians, it's connected to everything: Communism, space exploration, family gatherings...it's almost inevitable that when your national drink is heavy liquor, there's gonna be some problems...especially when the drink you've told people is quintessentially "Russian" is now being advertised as dangerous.

NEOES: I love how the Russian taxi driver laughs like a crazy fuck lol and Ivar's smashed...great doc, entertaining, insightful and interesting Although it is definitely pro Polish...and a little biased, but I think it was more about looking for a Polish identity after years of Soviet controlled politics, that was the story in the heart of it all

yenisei: As much as I like other VBS.TV films, I am disappointed by this one. And not only because I'm Russian. Eddy, you should make Ivar repay his expenses! This is not a film about origins or v(w)odka or whatever, this is a 30-minute PR piece for the Polish Ministry of Tourism. Those five minutes spent in or talked about Russia do little else than reiterate old and irrelevant stereotypes. What was the point of dragging some Soviet ghosts from their closets to reassure the audience that Russia was still ruled by the KGB? So, what do we have here: 1) a rambling hobo 2) illegal immigrant taxi driver who knows exactly 1 word of Russian ("snimay, snimay" - shoot, shoot) 3) Red Square with Lenin and Stalin 4) a KGB defector who quite naturally tries to justify his disloyalty by hating his ex-motherland 5) A couple of sciency types who are given about 10 seconds of screen time each. And there was not a single fucking mention of Dmitry Mendeleyev, the guy who invented the periodic table and quite literally scientifically defined what vodka is! I guess your research on Russia can be summarized as "There's vodka. And bears. And KGB". But when it comes to Poland we see a completely different picture. There are charming historians buried in their books with all sorts of verifiable wodka sources, pretty students and respectable elderly crusaders fighting against the menace of Communism and for Western values (such as hating Russia and plumbing English toilets). And anyway, who cares if their wodka (aka gorzalka) was mentioned earlier - it still tastes like glass cleaner. So, Eddy, answering your question: this is a very unbalanced, poorly researched and biased piece of journalism.

youth_of_destruction: first off, just want to say i agree 100% with what yenisei has said. I have been living in st petersburg for almost a year now, and I can say I could also produce some cute university students who are into taking cliche photos and can give warm inspiring messages to sway your heart to the side of russia. This video was ridiculously one-sided, as is pretty much all media which covers what happens in russia. of course this place has its problems, but as yenisei said...you barely spent any time in russia at all, or gave their point of view. you just showed one guys bogus claim and that was it... so in my opinion this issue is still not settled at all. also... what was up with ivar anyways? like "ohhh look over there at that man walking in a beer suit!" and "what the fuck poland?". i know this isnt cnn but like...what the fuck vice? do it again and ask some russians.

Tokyowars: I wonder why the cab driver gets all trippy-excited and laughs like an old lost drunk uncle when Ivar asks him to drive him to a big club. Both of them should take the crazy crow lady for a ride around Moscow drinking Vodka. That is a hit film all by itself.

sbay33: Eastern Europeans get all mother-bear about their alcohol. Serbian families get a few weeks out of each year to use the local Rakja distillery for their own batch, which they dole out like vials of their own blood. My friend Milosh gave me a bottle of his family's brew wrapped in a sheet. He wouldn't let me pack it in my stow-away luggage. Had to be with me at all times. I switched it at the airport-- sorry, my droog.
